For the love of all things worthwhile... no one is just anything. We each have a unique purpose gifted to just us! Think about this for a moment. I mean, really think about it. No one can be YOU. You can't be someone else. No matter how much you wish to. So, what will you do with WHO you ARE and WHAT abilities you HAVE?
Some friends of mine have more skill in one of their fingers than I could ever muster for my whole self over my entire lifetime. Other friends can make construction paper come alive. Others can take Julia Child to task in the kitchen. Some have leadership oozing out of their pores to the point people beg them to lead... anything. Still others can make Scripture come to life as if it was unfolding right before your eyes. Me? I can do NONE of these things. I'm good with words. I'm a safe person to share and process your baggage with. The gifts my friends possess are nothing to be jealous about. Remember, people would kill for what you can do and no one can be all things to all people all the time. That's a freeing truth, friends. Embrace and love you. Do the same for others in your life. Work together, using all that each of you are, to change the world for the better.
The next time someone tells you they are just something... please look them in the eye and share 2-3 positive things you see when you look at them. Do everyone a favor and do not make those things superficial or physical. If someone says "I'm just a stay at home mom" you need to counter that with something like "No, you're not. You're a 24/7 caregiver, booboo-kisser, soul-shaper, domestic engineer who can juggle more business elements better than any CEO I've ever met." Seriously, there are dozens of lists out there about the value of stay at home mamas. Society should be kissing their butts and showering them with gratitude and thanks.
The next time someone tells you "I'm just a teacher" you need to reply with something like "No, you're not. You're a master personality juggler, an orchestrater of mind-growth, a conflict resolutionist, and vital to the advancement of the next generation."
No one is just anything! Every person is more than what you see. They have a heart. They have passions. They have hobbies they've had to put on hold. They've had loss you can't imagine. They've felt lonely. They have reason to rejoice. They have accomplished things. They have grieved other things.
You are NOT just a ___________________!
So, pause for a moment and contemplate this question: what/ who are you?
Now, go right a list of as many fun word combinations you can think of to give yourself a new way of seeing and appreciating ALL that you ARE.
